Sorry mate I don't follow that logic! You wont put a new, warrented part in just because its not OEM put you'll put someones second hand crud in just because its stamped as OEM? There isn't much to go wrong with a glow plug so assuming its the life you are worried about of the non-oem one's, there is still no knowing how long/old the ones in the scrapped car are?

If you must go OEM then try here: http://www.vwspares...._electrical.php

Guys

Whilst we are on the subject of glow plugs, i am having trouble sourcing one for the auxilliary heater. I have a 2004/54 plate TDi130 ghia.

Hi and welcome to the forum, there are two types of plug fitted to the D5WZ heater the Beru GH001, 0100.228.340 this primarily fits the earlier MK2, it's cheapest from AVS car parts online.

The later ceramic plug which is probably the one you need with the wires attached this is more expensive and are available on ebay from

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Diesel-Heaters-Spares?_rdc=1

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Heater-Parts-Direct?_rdc=1

I don't have the part number for these but if you email either of these they will advise.

Of course they are available from dealers for more dosh.

Thanks, have phoned local Dealer and it would appear I have the later version of the heater according to them. I will order a VAG COM lead off ebay and see if just clearing any fault codes will work, I have to all too common problem of the car not heating up/varying coolant temp, and SWMBO is giving me grief that the car isn't warming up on her way to work.

I picked one up grom GSF pretty much get everything there was listed as an additional heater plug cost was £8.10 plus vat gsf part number 180vgo130 also listed as bbgn928 on the invoice, this is the plug only and does not have leads attached.. As yet I have not got round to fitting mine so cant vouch for it..

Hope this helps

James

Sorry just re read your post and see you have a tdi 130 mine is the tdi 115 not sure if this makes a difference, but a simple call to them would sort that

spikey, you sure you have bought the right 1 ?

sounds to me like they have given you the glow plug for the engine, not the aux heater.

as jamesey has posted this is about the price for the standard glow plug.

Guys, I asked for the aux heater plug this is what he gave me and assured it was correct.. Have also just done my engine glow plugs and thought id see if they were the same, they wernt the aux heater one is shorter and seems to be slightly fatter. when I get in from work 2mo I will go down the shed and get the number off the box as im now curious.

plugs are massive difference, heater uses a short stumpy plug engine uses a long plug so u cant really mix them up and the price his paid points to aux heater plug. out of intrest im using cheap ebay glow plugs working now for 3 yrs no probs, mate bought expensive bosch ones lasted 2 mths before he checked them out of interest and 2 were dead. some times paying loadsa cash dont make it better also ive got a 15sec glow timer external on mine made by Bosch so plugs get a bigger bashing than norm as every ign switch on gives 15secs of glow regardless of temp or Ecu control

Zorgman,

That's right my engine ones were longer and thinner than the supposed heater one you can't get them mixed up. Finish work at 18:00 will get the details off the box and post them here. Hope it is correct as then I have saved people money

Ok as promised the plugs in the engine are Beru 0100 226 227 and the one I was advised for the heater is beru 0100 226 199 this plug is definitely shorter and alot fatter than the engine one. Hope this helps
